Playing on Linux with Faugus
Faugus Launcher runs the game through Proton.
Updated October 27, 2026
HnH Hero is a Windows game. On Linux it runs through Faugus Launcher, which uses Proton (the same as Steam) without setting up Wine by hand.
1. Install Faugus Launcher
- Flatpak (any distribution): search for Faugus Launcher in your app store (GNOME Software, Discover) or run
flatpak install flathub io.github.Faugus.faugus-launcher. - Arch, Fedora and Ubuntu also have their own packages; see the project page on GitHub (Faugus/faugus-launcher).
2. Download the client
Download the Full client from the Download page and extract it, for example, to ~/Games/HnH-Hero.
3. Add the game
- In Faugus, click + (add).
- Title: HnH Hero.
- Path: pick
HnHLauncher.exeinside the client folder. - Prefix: you can keep the suggested one. Use a prefix just for HnH Hero.
- Proton: keep the default (GE-Proton or Proton-EM).
- Save and click Play.
The first time, Faugus downloads Proton and sets up the prefix; this takes a few minutes. After that the launcher opens normally.
If something goes wrong
- The launcher window stays blank: edit the game in Faugus, point the path to
Hero.exeand put!TianDiHuangLauncher~#in Arguments. The game opens directly, with your saved graphics settings. - The game closes at character select (virtual machines): turn off Shadows and Motion blur in the launcher settings.
- Black or frozen screen: switch the Proton version in the game's options in Faugus.
